I've been collecting Barbie's for almost a year now and I can't believe what I have accumalted in that time. What began as a Birthday present for my daughter has now turned into an obesession. Im fortuante to have found a lot of my dolls from stores like TK Maxx and Woolworth has been great for finding some old FF's too.
I have tried to stick to collecting one type of doll but it is very difficult to do that. If I see a doll I like I want to get it. The majority of my collection is playline dolls. I do also have quite a few collectors too. The best find so far has to be finding the gold label cowboy barbie in TK Maxx for £6.99! That was a great find. Sometimes you might come across some really good stuff in that shop and im lucky I have a store just 10 mins away from me.
Also I have managed to obtain a lot of the 80's dolls I had as a kid, which is fantastic. My NRFB Day to Night Barbie is amazing!! I bought her from America for £32 including shipping!!!
I think I'd like to collect all my dolls from the 80's in boxes and thats what I might do next.:)
One thing about collecting dolls like Barbie is you have to realise you will not be able to collect everything! Unless you're a billionaire that is, beause Barbie is so versatile and will never go out of 'fashion'. The best thing to do is if you are new to collecting is deciding what type of dolls you want to collect and how far you're money will go. Playline are the best and cheapest to collect and you're almost guaranteed that what you pay for them now you will get that money back in ten years time if you ever did decide to sell.
So Im off to find more dolls.........Happy Doll Hunting People!!!
